Cicadas Voki

Kia ora bloggers,

When reading a book, have you ever been curious about something you were reading, and wanted to find out more to help you understand what you were reading better?  We have been learning about how important this is this week in Literacy.

When we read The Magic School Bus inside the human body’ I formed some advanced questions using ‘how’ and ‘why’.  I made sure they were open ended questions that would help me understand the book more.  An example of one of my questions was “Why are intestines coiled up?’ and I then researched and found out that an adults intestine is 7.5m long, so it needs to coil up so that it fits in the body.

Next we got to chose our own book to read out of our virtual library and we had to form 3 advanced questions about it.  Our create task this week was to share these in a creative way.  I chose to do it with Voki and it was about a book called ‘Cicadas’ Here is my Voki of my questions :D

My Voki

I really enjoyed this task as it made me realise how important it is to do this when reading to understand the text better.

Do you ever do further research when you are reading a book to deepen your understanding?

Have a great day byee bloggers :D

Samoan Siapo

Kia ora bloggers over the past couple of weeks we have been doing Samoan Siapo and some Samoan we all made Siapo artwork, One of the oldest and most important traditions of Samoa is the Siapo or Tapa.  It is a type of cloth made from the bark of the mulberry tree.  It is very time-consuming, because the bark must be harvested, stripped, separated, scraped, and beaten before it can be used.  It is then laid out in the sun to dry.

The artist uses natural dyes, created from items such as berries, bark, and nuts to make patterns on the cloth.

There are 13 traditional patterns used on Siapo that represent things common to Samoan culture such as nets, coconut leaves, shells and flowers.

Have you heard about Siapo before??

This is my design we all used pastels and brown dye here is mine

Ironic Irony

Kia Ora Bloggers Today after lunch we made a comic strip of being Irony, and this is the definition of irony "The expression of ones meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect. Me and my friend made a comic about being Irony, we made it seem like I'm a good builder but really I miss the nail and hit my hand, Did you know what Irony meant? Enjoy!

Koru's 2020

Kia Ora Bloggers today we made an Adobe spark on our progress we have been doing over the past few weeks on Fridays. In this Adobe spark, I have the progress of my Koru necklace, and I also have my Koru art that we did with dye and pastels, and I also have what a Koru is and means to the Maori. What design did you like the most from my video? Enjoy!

The Twisted Castle :O

Kia Ora Bloggers nice to see you on my blog today.

In class, we have been looking at fractured fairy tales. We had to make a castle like a story mountain in the mountain, it has the background, the rising action, the climax, the falling action and last of all the resolution. We had to do a piece of writing with it the writing had to be on the three little pigs so here is what I managed to pull off, And I was wondering what is your favourite story tale??

Thank you for checking out my blog post and have a great day :D
